Here’s the official synopsis
An office worker who is insecure about her looks becomes a masked internet personality by night — until a chain of ill-fated events overtakes her life. Based on the webtoon of the same name.
The first season of the show captivated subscribers and critics alike with its suspenseful narrative. The question is, if we’ll see a second season. Netflix has not made any official announcement regarding the show’s future. It has neither renewed nor canceled the show as yet. So, it’s time to make informed speculations.
The first season arrived on August 18th and amassed 2.8 million views in the first three days. It had 19.2 million hours of viewership. While the numbers do not set or break any records, they are undoubtedly impressive. Although Netflix has not renewed the show yet, there’s no telling that it won’t. After all, it has just been a week since the series’ launch.
But does Mask Girl need a second season? There is still a lot that can be done with the series. The lives of the characters can take new trajectories. While a new season is not imminent, it is also not completely irrelevant.
Even if Netflix renews the series, audiences should not expect it to arrive before April 2025. The first season was produced between February 2022 and October 2022 and it debuted in August 2023. With that pattern, we cannot expect another season of Mask Girl very soon.
