A US conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), Charlie Kirk, was shot dead on September 10, 2025, around 12:00 p.m. local time. He was addressing students at Utah Valley University, Orem, Utah.
How did the attack happen?
Charlie Kirk was speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, for an outdoor event under the label ‘The American Comeback’ and he was answering the crowd’s questions in a debate-style setup named ‘Prove Me Wrong.’ There were 3,000 people present at the event.
20 minutes into the event, and there was a loud gunshot was heard. It was fired at Kirk, a bullet struck him in his neck, and after immediate bleeding, he fell off his chair.
The shot is believed to have been fired from the roof of a nearby building, identified by UVU as the Losee Center. The distance of the roof from the event place is about 100-200 yards.
The vantage point is not confirmed, nor is the shooter or his identification.
Who was Charlie Kirk?
Kirk’s full name was Charles James ‘Charlie’ Kirk. He was born on October 14, 1993, in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The tragic loss of his life happened at the age of 31. He was married to Erika Frantzve (a former Miss Arizona) and has two young children.
Kirk also founded the ‘Turning Point Action,’ a political advocacy arm, after co-founding and becoming CEO of ‘Turning Point USA, ’ started in 2012 when he was about 18 years of age. He was well known for his conservative political ideology and was a prominent media personality in youth & campus politics. He appeared on a podcast on The Charlie Kirk Show.
‘Charlie Kirk in his own words’, in which he addressed the audience at the age of 26 in 2020 at the Republican convention. He spoke to Republican delegates about the “angst” of youth, and called for Americans to support Trump over Joe Biden in the election.
“I am here tonight to tell you, to warn you, that this election is a decision between preserving America as we know it, and eliminating everything that we love,” he said.
He was closely associated with the Donald Trump/ MAGA movement in the past few years.
