Netflix’s comedy-drama series Glamorous premiered at the end of June. It has not been renewed yet and its future is quite uncertain. Netflix holds the number game above all else while dishing out renewals. Glamorous has yet to get enough views to get in the big leagues. Whether it finds a delayed following and gets back in the race is a matter of the future. With Netflix’s new policy to rank shows based on 13 weeks of viewership data, that’s always a possibility. But until then, we have not much to say in favor of the show.
The show by Jordon Nardino features Miss Benny and Kim Cattrall in leading roles. The story centers Marco Mejia, a young gender non-conforming queer man. Meija’s life takes a turn when he’s offered a job by a renowned makeup mogul.
Glamorous has received mixed response from critics holding a 53% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It has an IMDB rating of 5.8.

There has been no news of a renewal or cancellation of Glamorous, but going by the viewership data, the prospect of a renewal for this show is quite bleak. In the past, Netflix has canceled shows that have performed much better than Glamorous. Unless the show suddenly alters the trend and pulls a miracle 3rd week, it’s set up for being canceled.
If you look at Netflix’s internal data, Glamorous hasn’t done all that bad. The show has stayed in the list of top 10 most-watched English-language TV series for both the weeks of its existence. It was watched for 43.10 million hours between June 18th and July 2nd, 2023. If you want to translate that into a number of views, it comes to 6.6 million views.
It has performed reasonably well in regions such as South Africa, Australia, Spain, Portugal, Eastern Europe, and the Nordics. All that being said, Glamorous has also had one of the weakest English-language debuts when compared to shows like XO, Kitty, FUBAR, and The Diplomat, all shows that have been renewed for a second season.
If Glamorous does get a second season, it will be by virtue of the rankings, delayed discovery, critical acclaim, and cult status if it attains that sort of niche following. If Glamorous does not come back for a second season it will not be because of the WGA strike. The numbers just don’t support its renewal. And as we’ve said earlier, Netflix is a stickler for numbers.
