“Doona!” is an adaptation of the popular webtoon “The Girl Downstairs.” Lee Jeong Ho, known for titles like Crash Landing on You, Romance is a Bonus Book, and Life on Mars. Studio Dragon, the production team behind Love Alarm, My Holo Love, and Sweet Home, among others, is in charge of producing Doona.
Netflix hasn’t announced a release date for the series. However, the release data anticipated initially was October 13th. Although the official word on this is awaited, the new anticipated date of release is October 20, 2023 – a week later than the earlier assumption.

The storyline of “Doona!” follows Joon, who moves into a new apartment on his first day of college and unexpectedly discovers that the beautiful ex-celebrity Doo na is living downstairs. The story develops as Joon becomes increasingly curious about the mysterious life of the former celebrity.

A former member of Miss A, Bae Suzy, is playing the lead role of Lee Doo Na. Bae Suzy has previously starred in Netflix Originals like “Start-Up” and “Vagabond.” Yang Se Jong, known for his work in “My Country: The New Age,” “Thirty But Seventeen,” and “Dr. Romantic,” is playing the role of Lee Won Joon. They will be joined by Lee Yoo Bi, known for “Somehow 18,” “Pinocchio,” and “A Poem a Day,” as a yet undisclosed character.

As of the last update on February 2nd, 2023, Doona was still in post-production. We expect Netflix to make an official announcement about the release of the series soon, especially if it is really scheduled for an October debut. It is going to be an interesting addition to Netflix’s brimming roster of K-dramas in 2023.
